#2 Using Gradebook to Create Paper Roll Sheets
You can download your Canvas Gradebook as a CVS file (Excel) which creates a perfect template for a paper roll sheet you can print out for your co-located classes. Just change the headings/columns to dates when your class meets.
There is a little "Gear" icon in the upper left hand corner, use the pull down menu, and select download scores.
I take roll in my classes every meeting for a variety of reasons:
- Learn students names and attach to faces
- Calling roll provides some casual interact time/joke with students, etc.
- Build accountability/demonstrate you are aware of attendance
- Track attendance for two stage (online and off) assignments that require in class participation for credit
- Track attendance for the term and create documentation in the event students challenge their grade
