#6 Old Course to New Term

One of the great features of Canvas is that you can move an previous course into a new semester and Canvas will convert the due dates for you.

However, it cannot change specific content to reflect the new course location or to take into account holidays and other term specific issues. Therefore, course will still need an editing pass. Specifically:

• Internal hypertext links: if you have added links as part of the content within specific assignments or pages the links will remain ties to the old course. For example, if an assignment is linked in the text box to a quiz, the link that transfers over to the new term will still point to the old course. This means you need to change the links. This is pretty easy. But you may wish to avoid such embedded links in regularly taught courses.
• Holidays and other events are not reflected in the new schedule so dates may be off. However, they will be close and relatively easy to modify.
