#2 Problem: Students Cannot Upload Files

If a student complains that they cannot get a file to upload Canvas, there could be several reasons/solutions.

  • First, make sure the student is logged in.
  • Second make sure the are using the proscribed file type if you limited it.
  • Third, have the student quit and restart their browser.
  • They may not have a current version of Flash, have them go here http://www.adobe.com/support/flash/downloads.html Links to an external site. and download a new version.
  • They may have a poor internet connection. If the problem persists have them try to access via housemates/friends/library computer, a computer with a hard-wired connection.
  • Still a problem? Have them contact Tech Support by filing a trouble ticket via the help function.

In the meantime depending on the type of submission, you can activate the text box option and have them copy and paste in the text. Even if they have to email you an attached file you can still grade it and upload to Canvas in speedgrader via the comment feature so the student can get it. NOTE: You can't include it in a batch of zipped files that you downloaded - won't work.
