#2 Using Gradebook to Create Paper Roll Sheets

You can download your Canvas Gradebook as a CVS file (Excel) which creates a perfect template for a paper roll sheet you can print out for your co-located classes. Just change the headings/columns to dates when your class meets.

There is a little "Gear" icon in the upper left hand corner, use the pull down menu, and select download scores.

I take roll in my classes every meeting for a variety of reasons:

  1. Learn students names and attach to faces
  2. Calling roll provides some casual interact time/joke with students, etc.
  3. Build accountability/demonstrate you are aware of attendance
  4. Track attendance for two stage (online and off) assignments that require in class participation for credit
  5. Track attendance for the term and create documentation in the event students challenge their grade
