Instructor Information & Communication Policy
Welcome to Human Anatomy
Meet your instructor:
Dr. John McDaniel
Biography
I have been teaching something, somewhere since 1988, all of it in the health or basic sciences and typically part time. I am part time faculty here and I'm quite happy with that. It's a bit of a semi-retirement part time job. In addition to anatomy I've taught human physiology, microbiology, neuroanatomy/physiology and human sexuality. In my spare time (of which I have quite a bit since I teach part time) I enjoy many activities, skiing black diamonds, snowshoeing, sailing, SCUBA diving (50+ dives), home repair and remodeling, hiking, running and working out. In fact, I'd encourage all of you to get some exercise, it's always important but even more so when taking on-line courses, people tend to sit more for those. Enjoy the course, but not so much that you fail to put in the amount of effort needed to succeed. Balance is key.
Instructor Contact Information:
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
Preferred Contact Method
Canvas Inbox. This is the Canvas email system, it will send me an email with your name and course attached. The, "Inbox" is just to the left, past the blue menu to the black sidebar, there you'll see this:
Click on that and it will take you to the, "Inbox" where you may, "Compose a New Message" by clicking on this:
Follow the prompts after that to address, compose and send your message. Any replies to that message will return directly to you. This messaging system also has unread, starred and sent folders found in the drop down menu to the left of the, "Compose New Message" button.
You may also email me directly by using the .edu email address found on the syllabus. By that method I would ask that you reference the course in the subject line so we both know what we are discussing. Also, by that method I'd prefer you use your assigned email address. I don't like receiving email from, "hotonealways88@gmail.com", and I may not reply as promptly. In any case, please use your best proper English, practice avoiding text speak, use greetings, titles, and your best grammar and punctuation in communications with me, it's good practice. I'll thank you in advance.
