Units / Credits

Each course is given a number of units or credits Links to an external site.that students earn when they pass the course. Generally, each unit indicates a workload or expected amount of time students will be dedicating to a course though the time will vary--on study time, for example--for each student. How many units you should take depends on your situation. 

However, here are some considerations to think about as you register:

  1. Students from special populations have minimum unit requirements to maintain enrollment and/or financial benefits. They include the following:

  2. Maximum unit policy according to the Registrar's Unit limits and waitlist process Links to an external site.
  3. Links to an external site.Recommended unit load for timely progress for graduation is having an average of 15 units completed each semester.
