Online Exam Protocol

For spring 2020 the second midterm and final exam will be an open resource (book, notes, canvas, internet), but no help from another person during the exam may be given or received.  If you give or receive unauthorized help during the midterms or exam you will earn an F for the course and be reported to the university. Do not communicate with anyone about the exam until your instructor tells you that it is ok to do so.

In order for your exam or midterm score to count, you need to take this honor policy quiz.

Protocol:

1) Log in to canvas and zoom 15 minutes prior to the start of the exam.  Stay logged into zoom until you have completed the test and submitted your exam documentation.

2) Turn on your video camera and unmute your microphone.  Note: You can use your phone as a webcam, or use the zoom app directly on your phone.  Please keep your video on and your audio unmuted.  If you have too much noise you can ask your professor to mute.  You can get equipment loaned from here Links to an external site..

3) The Proctor will take attendance.  When your name is called answer present and show your id to the camera. You can put your id down as soon as the proctor calls the next name.  While this is not efficient, it is better than recording the zoom session and looking at is later, as zoom has security issues.

4) In canvas navigate to the exam in question. (For example Midterm 2:MOM) Enter your final answers into canvas (MOM) , but make sure to keep the paper that you used to solve or explain your answer.  Make sure to save often.

5) After you answer all the questions and save them, make sure to submit your answers for grading.

6) Digitize your search paper showing your work for all questions.

        a) If you have a surface pro or iPad you can do your work directly on that.

      b)  If you did your work on paper you can use a scanner if you have one, or take pictures and put the pictures into word doc and then save the word doc as a pdf.  Sometimes google docs does not same the work properly as a pdf.

       c) Upload one and only pdf of all your work to the proper place. (For example: Midterm 2: Upload  ).  Make sure it is in order, and oriented properly and scaled so that it can be read easily.  If your work can not be read or is missing then the question will earn zero points.

7) The professor will then grade the exam by looking at the MOM score and then adjusting the MOM score based on the documentation you provided.

8)  If you have an issue, please send a chat to the professor.   We will try our best to resolve technical issues.  At some point, a makeup exam might have to be given.
