Purpose of this assignment:
This short presentation will give you experience speaking in front of the class and will give your class a chance to know you better.
Requirements:
- Your presentation should have three parts: an introduction, body, and conclusion. Introduce your name with an effective first sentence (attention-getter). For the body, use two or three main points (supported by examples/details) to discuss and describe your name (i.e. Who named you? What does your name mean? Do you have any nicknames? Do you like your name? Why or why not? Anything else?). Conclude with a thought that you want the audience to remember about you and your name (clincher).
- Your presentation should be a 2 minutes (within one and a half to two and half). Be sure to time yourself when practicing your speech from a notecard.
- You should practice your speech several times so that you can deliver it in an extemporaneous speaking style. You may use only one notecard during your presentation (not your outline!).
- Along with your notecard you will turn in an outline of your introduction, body and conclusion. This must be typed, following the format guidelines in the syllabus and using the outline template Download outline template for engagement speeches.

To receive full credit on this assignment you need to make an earnest attempt at meeting the above requirements. I want each of you to succeed and begin to build confidence and skill in front of your classroom audience, so please come prepared and practiced.
