ADDENDUM - Required Revision to Essay 5
Everyone has now submitted the final draft of Essay 5 with 1000 words + a Works Cited. However, if you read editorials in a newspaper, you'll notice that they usually don't have the luxury of 1000 words. In fact, most editorial authors have only 500-600 words to get their point across.
With this in mind, everyone who submitted a final draft is now required to revise his/her Essay 5 from 1000 words to 500-550 words. This means that you will need to pay attention to every word, every sentence, every mechanical and structural element to your writing. Each topic sentence will need to present a portion of your argument and then work through the evidence. Each sentence needs to be in active voice. (See OWL Purdue Links to an external site. for help.) How will you entice and engage your audience with your ideas?
Requirements:
- All of the original requirements still apply (3 sources, MLA in-text citation, quotes, Works Cited, etc.)
- 500-550 words (no exceptions; any less than 500 will earn at the most a D; over 550 will earn at most a D)
- Submit by 5pm, May 6
If your final draft submission was late, that is now erased. However, if you do not submit a revision on 5/4, Essay 5 will earn a zero. (This revision is a required element of Essay 5.)
The same late policies apply: Late Submission Policy
