Follow one of the two noted assignments below.  Choose "Video" if you will watch the video.  If not, skip through several paragraphs past all 16 questions and down to "Alternate" in larger font for the alternate exercise.

Video: Please create a single submission which answers all the questions noted below in a single document.   I expect personal and unique answers from each student, not a group effort.  Please do not repeat the questions in your document, simply answer by number, i.e. 1. 

It will be subjected to plagiarism testing upon submission and repeated answers from different students will be flagged.

 Minimum 200 words.

–Write it on Criterion, the access code is found on Canvas, in Modules
–Achieve 5/6 or Proficient or better.  If you don't see a number score scroll down and look for a, "Proficient" score.
–Take a screen shot of your Criterion Score and post that as the first thing on this assignment, the screen shot needs to be wide enough to view the score, your name in the upper right and the assignment name near the middle.  Don't crop it down, just shrink it leaving the entire screen view available.  If needed change your screen zoom level before taking the screen shot so everything I need to see is visible.  The screen shot may take a while to load onto Canvas, be patient.  I need to see that screen shot so work it out so it's visible at the top of your submission.
-Sometimes you need to create a word.doc file set up correctly, save that and do a file upload rather than a copy and paste.
-Sometimes a screen shot won't load and you may need to take a picture of your Criterion score with a camera or phone and send that to your Word.doc file.  It's a different format and may load better.
-If you use an Apple, I don't know how to help you.
-Check with SJSU or Canvas or Criterion tech support if you have problems.
–No screen shot, including your name and the assignment name = no points
–Then, the word count
–Paste or upload your written work after the screen shot of your Criterion score and the word count

 Watch the video, and then discuss it in small discussion groups.

 Then complete this writing submission by the due date.

I would suggest that you print these questions and bring them to class or load them onto your computer and bring that to class prior to watching the video as these questions are more detailed than some in the past.  We will watch the video in class.  This video contains graphic and explicit sexual content and language. Annie Sprinkle takes you to seven different simulated movie theaters where she interacts with clips of porn films she made during each stage of her long career in the industry.

15. Give a basic summary of your immediate reaction to the video. Why do you feel this way?

 16. Is all of the material in this video protected under the First Amendment? How is the production, sale, and viewing of pornography controlled by society? Should we ban porn?

 

Alternate: If you choose to not watch the video perform an internet search for information relating to Annie Sprinkles and provide a brief biography.  Use the same Criterion location as designated for Herstory of Porn to write this assignment.  Be sure to include information about her entry into pornography, the number of films in which she has acted, her business ventures, education and personal life.  300 words minimum and be sure to cite your sources.
