PRIDE panel discussion (on-line substitute for the in-class panel) writing exercise.

  • Due Oct 9, 2021 by 11:59am
  • Points 10
  • Submitting a text entry box or a file upload
  • Available Aug 17, 2021 at 3pm - Oct 9, 2021 at 11:59am
This assignment was locked Oct 9, 2021 at 11:59am.

Please create a single submission which answers all the questions noted below in a single document.  Three total questions but it's still 200 words minimum.  I expect personal and unique answers from each student, not a group effort.  Please do not repeat the questions in your document, simply answer by number, i.e. 1.

Please upgrade your submission to 18 pt. type font prior to submitting this. I frequently grade them on my phone and the larger type font makes it sooooo much easie

It will be subjected to plagiarism testing upon submission and repeated answers from different students will be flagged.

Minimum 200 words.  18 pt. type font.

–Write it on Criterion, the access code is found on Canvas, in Modules
–Achieve 5/6 or Proficient or better.  If you don't see a number score scroll down and look for a, "Proficient" score.
–Take a screen shot of your Criterion Score and post that as the first thing on this assignment, the screen shot needs to be wide enough to view the score, your name in the upper right and the assignment name near the middle.  Don't crop it down, just shrink it leaving the entire screen view available.  If needed change your screen zoom level before taking the screen shot so everything I need to see is visible.  The screen shot may take a while to load onto Canvas, be patient.  I need to see that screen shot so work it out so it's visible at the top of your submission.
-Sometimes you need to create a word.doc file set up correctly, save that and do a file upload rather than a copy and paste.
-Sometimes a screen shot won't load and you may need to take a picture of your Criterion score with a camera or phone and send that to your Word.doc file.  It's a different format and may load better.
-If you use an Apple, I don't know how to help you.
-Check with SJSU or Canvas or Criterion tech support if you have problems.
–No screen shot, including your name and the assignment name = no points
–Then, the word count
–Paste or upload your written work after the screen shot of your Criterion score and the word count

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT:  This is the on-line replacement for what would have been an in-class SJSU PRIDE panel which would have presented their sexuality views and answered some questions.  That and now this replacement covers the, "Sexual Orientations" section of this course.  View ALL eleven (11) of the videos presented below as YouTube links.  Reflect on the views and discussions presented including one or two things you found interesting, thought-provoking, or valuable.  Then answer the 3 questions found following the 11 YouTube links.

1.   What is your basic reaction to this presentation?  What parts of the discussion did you personally find to be the most interesting, thought-provoking, or valuable?

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT CONTINUED:  Compare the YouTube presentations and discussions to the information presented on these issues in your textbook.  Refer to the chapter on Sexual Orientation, and perhaps other sections.  The exact issues raised may vary from the topics in the text.

2.   What facts or issues were presented in a similar way by both the PRIDE panel and the authors of the textbook?  What was agreed on by both sources of information?

3.   Were there any facts or issues presented in a different way by the PRIDE panel and the authors of the textbook?  If so, what were they, and why might there have been a difference?
