Quiz Requirements

Academic Integrity

By enrolling in this class, students agree to uphold and practice academic honesty and integrity in all activities associated with this class. All the work you complete for this class must be your own and may not be work completed for another class. When applied to quizzes, this means that you will not:

  • accept assistance or give assistance to others on quizzes.
  • download copies of the quizzes except for the purpose of completing them.
  • reveal quiz answers to other students via the class listserv, discussion board, individual email, or other means.

For this course, academic misconduct, at a minimum, will result in a failing grade ('F') in the course. (More information on academic integrity on SJSU's Academic Senate website).

Quiz Procedures

  • Quizzes are open-book, multiple choice, covering assigned readings and class lecture/discussion. You can access all quizzes starting 12:01 a.m. Monday, June 3, by clicking on the "Quizzes" tab on the left navigation bar. You must complete each quiz by its due dates noted on the Syllabus page.
  • To help you prepare for the quizzes, I've developed handouts for the quizzes (available below) that include key concepts and sample questions. There are practice questions on the Canvas Quizzes page so you can try out the format before you take the first quiz.
  • Additional preparation help is available on the textbook's website, which includes chapter outlines and practice tests.
  • Review the Quiz Tips for more help on studying for and taking the quizzes.
  • Each quiz is worth 80 points. There are 21 questions, each worth 4 points, on every quiz (therefore, 1 extra question, so 4 points extra credit possible).
  • Once you begin each quiz, you'll have 35 minutes to complete it. Each quiz includes a clock so you can monitor your time.
  • Very occasionally technical problems occur while students are taking a quiz. In such a situation, please email me immediately with a complete description of what happened. If you are able to get back online, simply complete the quiz. Then, email me a detailed explanation of why you went over the time limit for the quiz.
  • You may take each quiz twice during the time it is available. I count the higher score of the two quiz attempts.
